Sorta Summer House Wine

Vintage 1, The Orange Wine

The first year of our natural wine experiment with Fossil & Fawn. The orange Pinot-Gris was created to celebrate our rituals of relaxation and savoring a moment. We invite you to enter a space where you can bathe in nature, soak in cedar and jasmine blossoms, or star gaze in a lazy hammock. This blend of skin-fermented Pinot blanc, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer smells like apricot skin, tangerine rind, Citra hops and roses. It tastes sorta like Summer.

Vintage 2, Pét-Nat

Sometimes magic can result from throwing caution to the wind. This Pét-nat was fermented with native yeast from the vineyards it was sourced from. We bottled it without filtration or fining. It is comprised of old-vine Niagara (59%) and Pinot noir (39%) from BeckenRidge Vineyard, with Concord (1%) and Golden Muscat (1%) from the Sorta Summer House backyard. The delicate bubbles remind us of slow evenings after a long bask in the warm sun.It smells like grape candy and ripe red berries. It tastes sorta like summer.

Vintage 3, The Little Pét-Nat

This Pét-Nat was crafter using 3% of grapes from the gardens of Sorta Summer House paired with 97% Gewürztraminer from Oregon’s Andreas Vineyard. We rested each bottle on its fine lees, producing a smooth, dry, tropical sparkling wine with tiny bubbles and a generous nose of roasted pineapple that fades into rain- drenched Plumeria.

Vintage 4, Sparkling Cuvée

Sorta Summer House 2021 Sparkling Cuvée is an assemblage of grape varietals from the Pacific Northwest. The backbone of this cuvée is Pinot gris complemented by an oaked Chardonnay that lends structure and complexity. Grenache’s generous fruitiness bridges the two while Pinot noir brings on a touch of dark fruit and modest tannin. American table grapes picked from the Sorta Summer House vines add an unexpected bubblegum note and together, the components of the blend groove in this unconventional connection.

Profile: juicy and mouthwatering with bright acids to balance the creaminess.

Tastes of stone fruits, strawberry, vanilla yogurt, and graham cracker crust with a nose of a smooshed nectarine on a rainy sidewalk.
